NOVA, DC & MD Pregnancy, Birth & Postpartum Directory
Explore some of my favorite resources for local practitioners and support groups that can really help make your pregnancy, birth and postpartum experience a better one. Don't miss out on some of these top pregnancy provider recommendations and local holistic providers in the DC Metro area.
One of the most important decisions you make in your pregnancy is who you choose to be your provider. Pregnancy providers include midwives who are an excellent fit for all low-risk pregnancies ( Over 90% of pregnant people!) and who deliver in a hospital or out of hospital setting. These are some of my top recommendations for providers in the NOVA, DC and MD area. Being top providers is not a guarantee that your experience will always be the best; but it is a reflection of their overall culture and standards of care.
Please feel free to contact me and ask questions! You can book a 60 minute consultation to discuss providers that are a good fit for you.

In certain cases, pregnancies which are considered high-risk require the care of an ob/gyn or maternal fetal medicine doctor. One of our favorite high-risk pregnancy teams is the GWU OB and MFM team because they generally practice informed consent and evidence-based medicine. Other situations, such as controlled gestational diabetes, etc, can still be under the care of a midwifery team.

The most important factor in a successful VBAC is the support of a truly VBAC-supportive provider. VBAC-supportive providers practice in ways that allow for the most room for a successful VBAC- including allowing your body to go into labor on it's own even if past 41 weeks pregnancy, allowing for inductions if your body medically needs it, and not putting any scare tactics/fears on you based on the size of the baby. Positive talk and no deadlines is key in a relaxed mama and more conducive to the type of birth you want! The following are the top 2 most supportive VBAC providers in the DC Metro area.

I love chiropractic care for pregnant women and all people. Chiropractic visits are a great way to deal with pregnancy discomforts and aches and an even better way to help get your body into balance to help support baby's optimal positioning. Chiropractic visits are one of our top recommendations for preparing for VBACs and births of all kinds.
Chiropractors have many varied approaches, and some specialize in pregnancy and newborn care. Following are a few whom I (or other local doulas) have had great experience with.

Prenatal and Postpartum Massage Therapy is a great way for a new mama and a mama-to-be to relax, unwind and increase the feel-good hormones in her body. In some cases, massage therapy, and specifically induction massages, can be just what a mother needs to help her body enter into a state that is most conducive to birthing and labor. Below are some therapists I have worked with or who have been highly recommended by local birth workers.

The postpartum period is a time when your body will be going through intense hormonal change. You will find yourself adjusting to life with a newborn, lots of interrupted sleep and more. Having extra support during this time is so essential. Many new mothers go through postpartum baby blues, anxiety and in some cases postpartum depression. Seeking help through these phases is essential to your health and functioning. Here are some local resources for postpartum therapists and online resources.
